Pumpkin Hot Chocolate with Homemade Dark Hot Chocolate Mix

October is finally here which means that pumpkin spice season is in full swing. What we have for you today ladies and gentlemen is Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate. You can’t let the coziest time of year pass without a nice warm cup of hot chocolate. Homemade hot chocolate mix that makes the best cup of dark hot chocolate to which we are going to add a little pumpkin to the drink.

Whenever the weather gets cold we are always up for a good cup of hot chocolate. We don’t always have the mix on hand so we like to make our own and trust us it as good as the store-bought but better because it is not as sweet. All you have to do is mix all the ingredients together and store it in an adorable jar. This hot chocolate can be used for any type of hot chocolate not just for pumpkin. This mix also makes a great gift for the holidays.

We wanted to make a hot chocolate that we have never tried before and we have never tried a pumpkin spice hot chocolate. The Fall season is our favorite time of year for baking. You’ve got pumpkins, apples, caramel, etc… So when October rolls around we got really excited we can’t wait to share all our recipes and fun Halloween treats with you but first, let’s talk about this hot chocolate.

Two copper mugs of pumpkin hot chocolate

This hot chocolate is made with dark cocoa powder that is creamy and chocolaty with a hint of pumpkin. We found it pretty tasty. We will be honest we still prefer the classic hot chocolate to anything out there. Homemade hot chocolate is so simple to make and we bet if you look in your pantry you already have everything you need in there.

Ingredients:

  • Pumpkin Puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • Cinnamon
  • Dark Cocoa Powder
  • Salt
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Sugar
  • Milk

Simple ingredients, right? We are pretty sure that you have most of them in your kitchen right now. Homemade hot chocolate does not take a lot of time and it is super easy to make. You simply combine the salt, dark cocoa powder, sugar and you are done with your homemade mix. Then it is all about what kind of hot chocolate you want to make that you are going to add. Since this is pumpkin spice we are going to add pumpkin pie spice, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, and vanilla into the milk along with two tablespoons of our homemade hot chocolate mix. ***Note for every cup of milk you are going to add two tablespoons of hot chocolate mix.

Grab your favorite mug pour in this delicious hot chocolate. Top it off with some whipped cream and dash of pumpkin spice and you are all set. Another topping would be to add some marshmallow preferably the large one and toast them a bit. It looks very pretty and tastes amazing with this hot chocolate.
