Pumpkin Spice Caramel Latte

It is officially fall season! So naturally, we had to add a new pumpkin spice recipe, this Pumpkin Spice Caramel Latte. Steamed milk with a shot of espresso combined with homemade pumpkin spice caramel.

When fall comes around we usually kick our baking into high gear. It is our favorite time to bake (right next to Christmas time). It has been an endless list of ideas for Halloween, pumpkin, and apple recipes. We know that’s a lot of people get tired of pumpkin spice everything, but you can’t let autumn go by without one thing that is pumpkin.

We never use to like pumpkin spice. It wasn’t until we started our blog that tasted it again and really liked it. For two people who go to Starbucks all the time for coffee, but even less now because of the pandemic, we decided to make our own pumpkin coffee drink.

What to learn how to make it? Let us show you how.

A jar of simply organic pumpkin spice with a mug filled with a pumpkin spice caramel latte.

Pumpkin Spice Caramel

The ingredients you need are:

  • Sugar. We use granulated sugar.
  • Butter. We like to use salted butter in all our baking, but you can use unsalted if you like.
  • Heavy Cream
  • Pumpkin Puree. We used pumpkin puree. We are not sure if pumpkin pie filling will work. We have not tested it, yet.
  • Pumpkin Spice
  • Vanilla Extract.
  • Sea Salt. You can use regular table salt as well.

How to make step by step

This caramel sauce is so easy to make and it takes less than 20 minutes.

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat add the sugar.
  2. Whisk until it begins to melt and turn brown. Make sure there are no lumps. **Keep a close eye on it because the sugar will burn easily.
  1. Add in the butter and stir until melted.
  2. Slowly a little at a time add the heavy cream. Making sure to stir constantly.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and add the pumpkin puree, the pumpkin spice, vanilla extract, and the sea salt.
  4. Whisk everything together until completely combined and smooth.
  5. Allow it to come to room temperature. This should take about 10 mins.

Making the Latte

With a Frother

For our latte, we used our Keurig coffee maker that has frother so if you have a frother you can go ahead and use that. You are going to use one 1 cup of milk. Froth the milk according to manufacture instructions until it because frothy.

Without a Frother

If you don’t have a frother don’t worry. There are two ways of doing this. You are going to use 1 cup of warm milk.

  1. Jar Method

  • Grab a jar with a lid.
  • Pour the milk into it.
  • Screw the lid on really tight.
  • The milk may be hot so be careful.
  • You may want to use a towel, but don’t let the jar slip.
  • Shake the jar for about 1-2 minutes until bubbles start to form.
  • That’s it!
  1. Stove Top Method

  • In a small saucepan add your milk.
  • Put the heat to medium-low.
  • Whisk vigorously for 2-3 minutes until bubbles start to form.
  • That’s it!

Putting it all together

  1. Grab your mug. Add 2-3 tablespoons of the pumpkin spice caramel.
  2. Add one shot of espresso or strong coffee.
  3. Stir together.
  4. Add the milk on top.
  5. Add a little pumpkin spice if you wish.

And you are done! You now have a homemade pumpkin spice caramel latte.

Now that we have our coffee ready to go we are going to take ours and enjoy it with a blueberry muffin.

We hope you all enjoyed this recipe!
